GUWAHATI: An event of community marriage was organised in the Biswanath region of the state of Assam. A total of 17 couples got married in this social event.

The community marriage was organised in the Bornamghar of Puroni Goan in Biswanath. The event resonated with the music and religious synergy as a part of this celebration. Multiple couples who could not organise a social marriage for various reasons took part in this event and completed the same. The religious leaders completed the formal process and blessed the couples with a happy and secure future during the event.

The Member of the Assam Legislative Assembly representing the Biswanath constituency, Promod Borthakur also attended this event. Apart from giving away gifts to each of these newly married couples, he also blessed them with a happily married life.

Last month, a community marriage programme of 1,175 couples was held on Thursday at Tyagkhsetra of North Lakhimpur town this year too. The marriage was organized by the Community Marriage Organizing Committee of Lakhimpur in association with Sewayan of New Delhi. On this occasion, a public meeting was organized in the Tyagkhsetra campus. It began with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp by Naba Kumar Doley, State Panchayat and Rural Development and Cultural Affairs Minister, who participated in the programme as the chief guest. He extended warm greetings to the newly-married couples.

Chairperson of Sewayan, Satya Prakash Mangalam, extended blessings to the couples. Bibhag Sangha Salak of RSS, Naba Dutta, Principal of Lakhimpur DIET, Gobin Chandra Borah, and member of Sewayan Pavan Sarmah, Xatradhikar Bhabadev Goswami was present as the guests of honour. The organizing committee said that the couples tied the knot following their respective religious customs.
